I was asked to design and build a bed for a couple who live in a beautifully restored Victorian home in New Hampshire. They wanted a bed that was compatible with the house and their antique furniture, but was unique. Caning was commonly used in furniture of the period and we were particularly inspired by examples of radial caning patterns (sometimes called "sunrise" or "sun ray"). We worked together to design the headboard around this concept.
